明治時代の新潟港に降り立った英国少女ウィル。父の仕事についてきた彼女は、魚の生臭さに苦しみ、日本の食事に慣れることができない。そんな彼女のイライラと不安に、ぶっきらぼうな和食料理人・流作が出会う。魚の悪口を言うウィルに、流作は彼女の味覚を変えるため、独自の和食を考案する。この物語は、地元の食材を味わいながら、町と人との絆を深めていく、英国少女と青年料理人の交流が描かれる。異文化の摩擦と和解、そして料理を通じた心の成長が繰り広げられる。

A British girl named Will arrives in the port town of Niigata during the Meiji era. Struggling with the strong smell of fish and unable to adapt to Japanese cuisine, she faces frustration and loneliness. Her life changes when she meets Ryusaku, a blunt but passionate Japanese chef. When Will criticizes fish, Ryusaku decides to win her over with his unique Japanese dishes.
